Commercial foodservice equipment retailer 7DayChef.com came to us with a long list of requirements. They have fifty years experience in global catering equipment export and needed a Magento eCommerce facelift.

Firstly the site needed a responsive design as the current Magento eCommerce store was not functional on mobile devices. The existing design was a little tired.

Since their major focus is in export, they required some complex currency handling. They have thirteen different stores, each one able to display native currencies and customised content and products for certain markets. Not only did they need automatic currency conversions, they needed each product to have its own base currency, not something Magento can handle out-of-the-box. With a multi-million dollar turnover each year, currency fluctuations were causing problems for them. It was important that currencies were handled in this way. They also needed country detection to guide visitors to their own native store.

Lastly, as Magento can be very sluggish with large inventories, the site needed speeding up. We used various cacheing and minify techniques to make the site zip along.

The site also needed to embrace social media, so accordingly we introduced them to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
